Message from EMA

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore is pleased to host the 9th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) from 24 – 28 October 2016. This year, delegates can look forward to an exciting week of discussions on the theme “New Energy Realities”. Energy prices have stayed lower for a longer period than many had expected, while the Paris Agreement has given a further boost to renewables and greener solutions. Innovative technologies continue to make energy systems and networks smarter, creating new opportunities.

This year’s Singapore Energy Summit will address five key areas – Asia’s new energy realities; the outlook of oil and gas; moving towards a low-carbon future; how innovative technology is changing the utility landscape; and bridging the energy infrastructure financing gap.

Adding to the discussions this year is the inaugural “Energy Access Forum – Powering Development in the Asia Pacific”, co-organised by EMA and UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific). The forum builds on the outcome of the G20 Energy Ministerial Meeting in Beijing earlier this year. It brings together stakeholders to share experience and best practices, as well as create business opportunities to support the region’s efforts to enhance energy access.

SIEW 2016 will also feature the Asia Clean Energy Summit, Asian Downstream Week, Asian Energy Financial and Investment Conference (Special Edition), and Gas Asia Summit with more than 200 exhibitors across all the events. SIEW Thinktank Roundtables will delve deeper into key energy issues, ranging from Asian LNG developments, cyber-security in the power sector and renewables. SIEW Energy Insights will also feature key energy reports by leading international organisations.

We look forward to your active participation in the week ahead.
