His Excellency Minister Al Hamili has been involved in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years, and has held numerous senior posts. He worked on behalf of the UAE as Governor to the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries between 1994 and 2002, and has been Minister of Energy since 2004. |

His Excellency Mohamed bin Dha'en Al Hamili was appointed Minister of Energy for UAE in November 2004. In addition to his ministerial positions, His Excellency also occupies the position of the Chairman of the Federal Authority for Electricity and Water (FEWA ), Chairman of the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), a Member of the Advisory Committee for the Oil Supreme Council, and Board Member of the Cosmo Oil Company of Japan. Prior to that, he started out as an Internal Auditor for Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company from 1980–1981, before he became Controller of Internal Audit till 1982. This was followed by a role as Manager, Management Research, from 1982–1984, and then Manager, General Services to 1988. From 1988-1989, he donned the hat of Assistant General Manager (Administration), before rising to Director of Finance at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company from 1989–1990, before changing portfolios to Director, Marketing, until 1992, and Director, Personnel, till 1997. He later became General Manager of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for Distribution up to 1998, while at the same time being UAE Governor for OPEC from 1994–2002. He obtained a Higher Diploma in business administration in 1976 and had a certificate in chartered auditing in 1979 , a Higher Diploma Higher Studies in advanced management and chartered accounting in 1988 from the UK and the US. |
